Happy 15th Birthday to Our Granddaughter AVA!

Today's blog update is a special one - it's all about someone very dear to our hearts: our granddaughter Ava, who turns 15 today!

Ava, We hope you're having an incredible day out on Lake Tahoe, boating with your friends, soaking up the sunshine, and making unforgettable memories. You deserve nothing less.

It's hard to put into words just how proud we are of the young woman you've become. You're not just growing-you are thriving. At just 15, you are already a force to be reckoned with: a squad leader in the Civil Air Patrol, a straight - A student, and an outstanding athlete.You were the only freshman to make the varsity girls basketball team this year - a huge accomplishment-and you also earned your place on your school's senior tennis squad.  But let's not forget your Hyrox competitions!    That kind of determination, talent, and dedication speaks volumes about your character. 

But beyond all the achievements and accolades, what stands out most is the kind, thoughtful, and genuine person you are.  You treat others with respect, lead with humility, and carry yourself with grace.

So today, we just want to say - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AVA!  We love you and are cheering you on every step of the way. Here's to another year of adventures, growth, and everything that makes life so special.

June 11 & 12th Back to the Past....or at Least 2006 WINTHROP, WA TO TONASKET TO OROVILLE WA Nineteen years ago-yep, you read that right, nineteen-Bob and I each set off on a Life-changing bike journeys across the United States. It was 2006, and while we didn't know each other yet, we both stated from Washington and pedaled our way across the northern tier of the country, all the way to Bar Harbor, Maine. Bob was brave (or possibly just really stubborn?) and rode solo.  I had the good fortune to ride with my amazing friend Devra (spelled D-E-V-R-A, thank you very much), and little did we all know just how much that summer would shape our lives.  We were unknowingly riding the same roads, just days apart, cranking our way through charming little towns like Mazama, Winthrop, Twisp, and Tenasket-each of which we've just revisited over the last two days.  Off we go....Our first stop Susanville, CA.  Only 90min from Reno but it brought us to the Biz Johnson Bike Trail!  Biz Johnson is the longest Rails to Trails route in California.  While cycling along the trail we found a lovely off the beaten path campground that you would only see if you were riding on the trail.   Our original plan was to cycle and then head towards Lasson Nat'l Park but that quaint little campground hidden deep in the woods called to us.  We finished our ride and made our way back to Goumez Campground.  It was the absolutely perfect spot to conclude the first day of this magnificent journey.
