Homer, Alaska - Land's End  & Seaside Beginnings

July 26 - 27

From the moment we arrived inn Homer, it felt like Alaska was putting on a show just for us. blue skies stretched wide over the glittering waters of Kachemak Bay, and the breeze-just enough to keep things interesting-seemed to be forever at our backs. we couldn't have asker for better weather for our two-day stay.

we kicked things off in style with dinner at the Charthouse at Land's End. Cloth Tablecloths (yes, the real kind-twice mentioned because we were that impressed), polished wine glasses, and a view that made us pause and just take it all in. The food? Incredible! Perfectly cooked halibut, a gorgonzola steak salad that had us both saying yum yum, and that beautiful view of Katchemak Bay!

As lovely as dinner was, the true heart of our Homer experience was Seaside Farm.

Let us introduce you to 30 acres of pure Alaskan magic - wildflowers taller than we are, winding grassy paths lined with horses, chickens and birdsong that never quite stops. At the center of it all is Mossy Kilcher, the farms's owner, caretaker, bird whisperer, and all-around extraordinary human being.  And, if that isn't enough, google her and you will she is a bit of a celebrity too, although she downplayed that.

Seaside Farm sits right on the shores of Kahemak Bay, and staying there felt like stepping into a storybook. We biked into town each day, coffee and pastries from Wild Honey's fueling our morning adventures, followed by lunch and a celebratory pint at Grace ridge Brewing (yes, another brewery). At Grace Ridge, we struck up a conversation with a couple who immediately lit up when we mentioned Seaside Farm.  They gave us the full Kilcher family rundown: original Alaskan homesteaders, eight kids in total, wildly eclectic and talented, and - get this - Mossy's niece is Jewel. Yes, that Jewel.  The singer. She grew up right there at Seaside Farm and still comes back every summer.

Back at the farm, we lingered over our morning coffee with views that didn't seem real, then spent evenings swapping stories with Mossy as she shared bits of Alaska's history and Homer's hidden gems. Her stories were as rich as the landscape itself - full of wisdom, wit, and warmth.

We slept late (like 9:30 late!), wandered often, and at some point during our stay, Seaside Farm stopped feeling like a place we were visiting and started feeling like home. It was had to say goodbye. Actually, we didn't. we said see you later. Because we have a strong feeling we'll be back.

If you are ever in Homer and looking for a place to stay, we can't recommend Seaside Farm enough. Whether you're in a camper, a tent, or one of the utterly charming dry cabin Mossy offers, you'll find something truly special here.

We didn't take nearly enough pictures-too caught up in the moment, too busy soaking in the magic. But the memories are etched into our hearts: the cabins nestled in wildflower fields, the trails to the beach, and Mossy, smiling with her birds chirping all around her.

Seaside Farm wasn't just a place to sleep-it was a place that welcomed us like family. And that's something we'll carry with us always.

The adventure continues......
