We are dedicating the next four months to this incredible trip:  The drive up, our time exploring Alaska, and the road back home.  This blog is our way of keeping in touch with all of you - our family and friends - as we travel.  we will be sharing updates, stories, photos, and all the little moments in-between.

While we feel truly blessed to have this opportunity, one of the hardest parts of a trip like this is being away from family.  So think of this space as our virtual campfire - we hope you will check in often, leave us a note, and stay connected as we head north.

June 11 & 12th Back to the Past....or at Least 2006 WINTHROP, WA TO TONASKET TO OROVILLE WA Nineteen years ago-yep, you read that right, nineteen-Bob and I each set off on a Life-changing bike journeys across the United States. It was 2006, and while we didn't know each other yet, we both stated from Washington and pedaled our way across the northern tier of the country, all the way to Bar Harbor, Maine.  Off we go....Our first stop Susanville, CA.  Only 90min from Reno but it brought us to the Biz Johnson Bike Trail!  Biz Johnson is the longest Rails to Trails route in California.  While cycling along the trail we found a lovely off the beaten path campground that you would only see if you were riding on the trail.   Our original plan was to cycle and then head towards Lasson Nat'l Park but that quaint little campground hidden deep in the woods called to us.  We finished our ride and made our way back to Goumez Campground.  It was the absolutely perfect spot to conclude the first day of this magnificent journey.
